Why Osteopathy?
Osteopathy can help with:
General, acute and chronic backache. Back pain not arising from injury or accident.
Occupational and postural stress (Workplace RSI).
Shoulder and elbow pain (Frozen Shoulder, Tennis Elbow).
Minor sports injuries.
General muscular aches and pains.
Joint pain (hip, knee and ankle pain).
Uncomplicated mechanical neck pain.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a health care practice, involving hands-on manual diagnoses and treatments of muscle and skeletal conditions. Osteopathy looks at the body as whole, ensuring the harmonic functioning of activities within its system, establishing the actual cause and origin of pain. For instance, a patient may often need to be examined and receive treatment in areas other than those where he or she is experiencing pain (shoulder pain may originate in the neck).
Osteopaths in their approach, using health-orientated principles of patient care, create a treatment plan tailored to individuals’ unique physiology and needs (to restore bodies balance and its optimal functions). This usually includes manual therapy, as well as advice about exercise, ergonomics and lifestyle.
As well as treating a wide range of conditions, Osteopathy can also be used as a preventative treatment, thus avoiding injuries developing symptoms such as pain and discomfort.
